Library Thing

I really enjoy library thing. I can see using this as a way to keep track of book that you have read and like as well as books that you would like to read. This site allows you to leave comments about the book which may be helpful to those who want your thoughs and opinions on books they may want to read. Another interesting thing is that this site also allows you to tag. This is by far my favorite site in Library 2.0 yet.

Technorati

Who knew there were so many blogs out there? 113 million? 18 blog posts every second? A question comes to my mind. Rather than writing down your thoughts in a journal, is it going to become more convenient and socially acceptable to write your thoughts and feelings in a blog? Will privacy become an issue? All this technology is rather scary. I can see an advantage to such technological advantages though. With so many blogs there must be something out ther for everyone.

Tagging

Who knew that tagging existed? Well obviously millions of people. Sadly I was not one of them. I can see tagging as an easier way to do a search. Everyone out there who is using such services are very helpful in that they are making it easier for those of us down the road who want to use such services. Who knew that tagging was not only identifying people on facebook, it can be used for better purposes. Ok I think I am rambling now so this will be all for now.

Wait my adv(i/y)ce: Well this has nothing to do with 2.0 but: Never try to heat up a hot pocket that has been out of the freezer. It will burn! ( I learned this today)

Myspace 2.0

I am fortunate to already know the wonderful world of Myspace. Yes, I said wonderful! I have had a myspace account for two and a half years and it has been a great tool in communicating with people I actually know. I see Myspace having a huge future in the world of libraries. Maybe in the future we can use myspace to answer reference questions for patrons who are not able to leave their homes or do not have time to do so. I know there is a question about the safety of myspace for young children. This can be solved quite easily. 1) Monitor what your child is doing on the internet. 2) Don't give out your personal information.

Adv(i/y)ce: Be smart with everything that you do online.
